The behavioural case-study questions are where the test checks your attitude, not just your knowledge. It rewards the responsible answer: looking out for others, staying fit for work, and keeping the public — especially children — away from site dangers.

What behaviour and the public covers in the HS&E test

  • Taking responsibility for your own actions and looking out for workmates
  • Being fit for work: drugs, alcohol, fatigue and medication that affects you
  • Reporting unsafe acts and near misses rather than ignoring them
  • Securing the site boundary and keeping the public and children out
  • Making safe any hazard that could reach the public — open holes, materials, plant
